On the rare occasion a supplier refuses or is unable to complete their profile, there are two actions you can take to support the supplier on their journey.
These are:
- Move the supplier to a new Standard, such as ERP Only, which reduces the burden of questioning;
- Switch the Supplier Profile to be managed internally managed by a Business Owner.

Difference between Supplier-Managed and Internally-Managed profiles
Changing Standards and what it means
A full introduction to Standard, what they are and how to use them, is available here.
Not all suppliers need to be assessed against the same criteria. In some cases, you may been it acceptable for a supplier to be approved into the business providing minimal information.
Canopy uses a concept called Standards which allows you to vary the standard against which you are assessing the supplier.
In the event a supplier refuses or is unable to complete their profile, you may wish to moving them to a 'lighter' Standard. This will reduce the burden of questioning on the supplier, which may be sufficient to incentivise them to continue with their profile submission.
At a minimum, most suppliers will want to take control of their own banking information, so they can be sure this is recorded accurately for payment.

Difference between Supplier-Managed and Internally-Managed profiles
A full introduction to Supplier and Internal Profile Admins is available here.
Most Supplier Profiles are managed by the supplier themselves. This is advantageous because:
- It pushes the burden of data entry to a motivated party
- It improves the accuracy of information being collected
- It establishes a conduit for conversation and exchange of information between yourself and your supplier
However, Canopy also allows for users who are internal to your organisation to take ownership of the Supplier Profile and assume responsibility for completing the information. These are known as internally-managed profiles.
In the event a supplier refuses or is unable to complete their profile, you may wish to switch the profile to be internally-managed. Internally-managed profiles are managed by the Business Owner, who is involved in the management of the supplier relationship.

Please note, the supplier will no longer be able to gain access to their profile once the Profile Admin has been changed to Internal. If the supplier later wants to update their profile, you may switch the profile back to be supplier-managed by changing the Profile Admin to Supplier.
