There are two sets of users on Canopy:
- Internal users, who are internal to the customer organisation and need access to information about your supply chain;
- Supplier users, who are responsible for maintaining the information on their Supplier Profile.
These two sets of users are managed in different places on Canopy. This article will explain how to add both of these types of user.
In this article you will learn:

How to add a new internal user
Follow the steps below to add a new user to Canopy who is internal to the customer organisation.
If the user has access via Single Sign-On (SSO) and has already logged in, they will already be listed as a user on Canopy. There is therefore no need to add them again. To adjust their user permissions, please refer to this article.
- Select Users from the top menu bar
- On the user management page, click on the Create New User button in the top right
- Fill in the following mandatory information about the user you wish to add:
- First Name
- Last Name
- [Optional] You may add a Telephone Number if you wish
- [Optional] User Status governs whether the user is 'Approved' (active) or 'Suspended'. By default, the field is set to 'Approved' which means you do not need to do anything
- Select the appropriate User Roles for the user using the table. The default User permissions are set so that the 'Standard' user is already selected. Users may be assigned to more than one User Role, which means they accumulate the user permissions of all the User Roles they have been selected for
- [Optional] If the user is given an Approver Role, where appropriate, set any Approval Rules. You can find out more about Approval Rules in this article.
- Click the Save Changes button in the top right
The new user has now been created. They will receive an email address from Canopy inviting them to log into the system and set their password. If the user does not receive this email, please ask them to check their Junk Mail. You may also reset the user's password, which will resend the invitation email.
