A Standard User is the User Role given to general business users of Canopy who are internal to the customer organisation. Standard Users are the people who work with suppliers on a day-to-day basis as part of their role. For example, they may be:
- Buyers, who purchase goods and/or services from suppliers
- Commercial teams, who need to find suppliers in order to fulfil commercial opportunities and tenders
- Production teams, who are the beneficiaries of the goods and/or services provided by suppliers
- Anyone else for whom access to information about suppliers would offer value in their role

Supplier record management
Standard Users may request new suppliers, but are only involved in the management of supplier records if they are assigned as the Business Owner for the supplier.
Requesting new suppliers
Standard Users are allowed to submit new supplier requests. This happens when they have identified a supplier they wish to work with, but is not yet within your supplier directory.
Standard Users do not play a role in the approval of new supplier requests (where applicable in your workflow).
Supplier profiles
Standard Users have full access to the Supplier List, allowing them to search for and find suppliers already within your supply chain who they may wish to work with. Standard Users will be able to see all supplier records, except those that are in Record Created status or those that have been marked as 'Deleted'.
Standard User's ability to edit the profile is reserved only for those who are assigned as Business Owners of the supplier.
Standard Users do not play a role in the approval of supplier information.
Banking information
Canopy is highly protective of sensitive information like bank details.
For supplier-managed profiles, Standard Users are not allowed to view or edit banking information.
For internally-managed profiles, Standard Users are only permitted to view and edit banking information if they have been assigned as a Business Owner for that supplier. Standard Users who are not Business Owners will not be able to view or edit banking information.
Standard Users do not play a role in the approval of banking information.
Approvals
Standard Users do not have permission to perform approvals.
Reporting
Standard Users are not permitted to create, edit or delete reports.
They may only view reports if the permissions set on the report have granted Standard Users with access.
Contract Management
Standard Users may view contracts on all suppliers.
However, they do not have permission to create, edit or delete contract records.
User Management
Standard Users do not have permission to manage users of Canopy.
