The Canopy system prevents duplicating supplier records by the 'Supplier Name' field on the Request Form.
When a duplicated name is entered, an error will appear to block you from sending a supplier request with the same supplier name. The error that will appear will state 'Please enter a unique company name', as follows:
What should I do if the Request Form states I need to enter a unique name?
If an error appears when entering the Supplier Name on the Request Form, we recommend following these steps:
- Cancel sending the invite via the 'Cancel' button at the bottom of the Request Form
- Search for the supplier via the 'Company Name' search filter on the home page
Check if any supplier records appear with the same or similar names, and whether the profile is already created on the system. If the profile already exists on the platform, no further action will be required.
